When I got my SawStop, one of the first things I did with it was to make some angled cuts - something I struggled with on my old Delta contractor saw. Then I glued up those angled strips to make hexagons, and then sliced them and glued them edge to edge creating the pattern. This was scrap plywood and some scrap oak, just a way for me to get used to the new saw, and to try some new things in a little box. Red oak is not usually something I work with, but I did have the right sized scrap for this project.
